Omega Mart: An Otherworldly Art Exhibit in Las Vegas

You can find just about everything you could ever imagine doing in Las Vegas. It’s really a city that has it all. Whatever you can imagine is at your fingertips. But, Vegas goes even further, reaching beyond your greatest imagining. Omega Mart takes you to an otherworldly art exhibit unlike anything you have seen before.
Come with us on a galactic bending journey to Omega Mart.
What is Omega Mart

Omega Mart is a part art exhibit, a part mystery to solve, and a part jump-in and throw-caution to the wind experience.
The experience is the second of Meow Wolf’s art exhibits launched around the United States.
The original Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, New Mexico has been a family favorite stop. It is a mind-bending, spell-binding art gallery that defies your wildest expectations.
Which meant we were excited to learn that Meow Wolf was expanding to different location throughout the U.S.
Meow Wolf does not create a cookie-cutter experience. Each location is its own visual and story-telling masterpiece.
Which meant we eagerly booked tickets to see Omega Mart in Las Vegas.
Finding Omega Mart

The exhibit is located just off of the Las Vegas strip. You definitely need to have a device which can direct you to the off-the-beaten-path location.
Omega Mart is located in Area 15 (a play on Area 51, which is located in the desert north of Las Vegas). Area 15 has a number of fun and unusual businesses. But, the most unusual is probably Omega Mart.
The Omega Mart Story

Each Meow Wolf location tells an intergalactic story. Omega Mart tells the story of extraterrestrial aliens who seem to have made a home on planet Earth. As you enter the space, you arrive at a grocery store, which looks like any other grocery store at first glance.
But, take a closer look, and you’ll start to see unusual merchandise for sale at this supermarket.
Head over to the butcher’s counter and you’ll find some out-of-this world meats.
We enjoyed perusing the store shelves and discovering the unusual products in the Omega Mart.
However, we did know that there was more. We just had to find the door to the larger, grander experience.
Omega Mart is filled with secret doors and passageway that lead you into other areas of the art museum. You are not paying admission simply to see a strange supermarket. There is more to find and discover behind the butcher’s counter. You must make your way to those “employee only” areas. We know, you’re a rule follower. But in this case, you need to break the rules.
The Great Beyond

Congratulations! You made it out of Omega Mart. Where are you now?
It seems you have discovered a portal, or went through a wormhole, and arrived on another planet.
Don’t panic. Go with it. Enjoy the experience. Soak up the bizarre. And, maybe, try to make sense of all you see. Can you unlock the secret? There is a mystery that may need to be solved.
Yes. Every Meow Wolf location involves a story. And there are clues to unravel that mystery and solve the story.
While we attempted valiantly to solve those mysteries, we cannot honestly say we’ve been successful.

And that’s O.K. Meow Wolf locations can be enjoyed without solving the vexing questions and mysteries you meet. This aggravates some of our family members.
However, we have learned to roll with it, and become fully immersed in the experience and our surroundings. I think that’s the best approach in a Meow Wolf Gallery. See and feel and hear the things you never thought you would see, feel, and hear.
Will your head hurt after you leave? Possibly. Will the visual overload make you dizzy with wonder. Absolutely. That’s all a part of Omega Mart.
Practical Matters

Some quick logistics regarding Omega Market. Tickets can be purchased online. I strongly recommend you purchase a timed-entry ticket before arriving.
We have gone to Area 15 twice. The first time, we pre-purchased tickets and got in to Omega Mart no sweat. The second time, we risked it. I checked for ticket availability in the morning, but did not purchase. On a whim, we headed to Area 15, only to find that tickets could be purchased, but there was a four-hour wait time.
So, it’s always best to pre-purchase that timed-entry ticket.
Once at Omega Mart, you can spend as much time (or as little time) as you desire. Our family does struggle in this area. Some members experience sensory overload and are ready to leave long before other family members are ready to leave. In general, however, I would say that it takes a good two to three hours for a fulfilling experience. You could certainly spend longer if you chose.

Finally, stick close to all of your family members. Omega Mart, and all Meow Wolf locations, can be overwhelming. There is much to see and do. There are many labyrinths and corridors and rooms to explore. It does feel a little like a maze, and you could easily lose family members and have difficulty finding them.
While we were at Omega Mart, a child was separated from adult family members, and announcements were made for a secure return. There are plenty of staff on hand to assist if needed.
Final Thoughts
We have loved the Meow Wolf exhibits in Santa Fe and now Las Vegas.
They are so memorable. And they definitely are worth repeat visits.
We have been to the Santa Fe locale twice. And we know after visiting Omega Mart once, that we must return.
Words (and even still images) cannot capture the Omega Mart experience completely.
Video can’t either, however, I have attempted to show you a little bit more of the experience in this video.
Have you been to a Meow Wolf location? Which one would you recommend we see next? Let us know.
